autopkgtests for `loopdev` currently fail for the following reasons:
1. the tests assume `losetup` to be in the user's PATH, which might not
  be true in the test environment
2. the tests need to call `fallocate()` but hardcode one of its
  arguments length to 64 bits, while it must be 32-bit wide on 32-bit
  architectures
3. tests have to be able to access `/dev/loop*` read-write, meaning they
  must run as `root` in a privileged environment

(1) and (2) are solved by patching the source code as needed, while (3)
is solved by overriding the tests `control` file, adding the `needs-root`
and `isolation-machine` restrictions.
