   8 The Ceph Foundation exists to enable industry members to collaborate
   9 and pool resources to support the Ceph project community. The
  10 Foundation provides an open, collaborative, and neutral home for
  11 project stakeholders to coordinate their development and community
  12 investments in the Ceph ecosystem.

  14 The Ceph Foundation is organized as a directed fund under the Linux
  15 Foundation. Premier and General Member organizations contribute a
  16 yearly fee to become members. Associate members are educational
  17 institutions or government organizations and are invited to join at no
  18 cost.

  77 The Governing Board consists of all Premier members, a representative
  78 for the General members, a representative for the Associate members,
  79 and a representative from the Ceph Leadership Team (the technical
  80 governance body). The board is responsible for:

  82 * Building and approving an annual budget for spending in support of
  83   the Ceph project
  84 * Establishing ad-hoc committees to address current needs of the
  85   project
  86 * Coordinating outreach or marketing
  87 * Meeting regularly to discuss Foundation activities, the status of
  88   the Ceph project, and overall project strategy
  89 * Voting on any decisions or matters before the board

  91 The Ceph Foundation board is not responsible for and does not have any
  92 direct control over the technical governance of Ceph. Development and
  93 engineering activities are managed through traditional open source
  94 processes and are overseen by the :ref:`clt`. For more
